Our qualifications:

All Squad members are certified by the State of New Jersey as Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs). To acquire certification we take a rigorous 190 hour training course on our own time. After training we have to pass a demanding written exam and demonstrate satisfactory levels of the practical skills we have been taught. We are trained in basic emergency care skills, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, automated defibrillation, use of definitive airway adjuncts, oxygen therapy, first aid, splinting, assisting patients with certain medications, and lifting and moving patients. We are even taught how to assist in delivering babies, and have exercised that skill on many occasions.
